Technomic Tube Vlog Reveals Generational Foodservice Preferences

Because consumers of all ages visit foodservice venues daily, having a solid understanding of how generational preferences differ is essential for success in today’s competitive market. To help industry leaders stay abreast of how each generation views and approaches foodservice, Technomic has created a new video blog series on its YouTube channel, dubbed “Technomic Tube.” The first three video blogs in this new series examine generational perspectives on health, social media and snacking occasions.

Let’s take a closer look at some key findings from our first video blog, which focuses on the top-of-mind topic Health:

#1: Health

Technomic data shows that Millennials, more than any other generation, usually consider health and nutrition when ordering food at restaurants. This data was supported by some of Technomic’s younger employees, who noted common themes such as fruits, veggies and other earth-grown products when asked what they consider to be healthy. Other important buzzwords influencing today’s youth included organic and home-cooked.

Technomic Tube’s first three video blogs give insight into consumers’ opinions as well as generation-specific data from the company’s Digital Resource Library (DRL), Consumer Brand Metrics, ACCESS and MenuMonitor resources. Expect future vlogs to expose what real members of the Z, Millennial, X, Boomer and Mature generations deem as favorite Asian flavors, burger toppings, adult beverages and other related topics.
